The Top 5 Reasons To Start A Podcast
Have you been thinking about starting a podcast for your brand or business? If so you’re in the right place. In this blog post, I’m going to be talking about my top 5 reasons to start a podcast and how a podcast can help you grow your mission, build credibility in your industry, and expand the reach of your brand.
My Reason For Starting The Clipped Podcast
First, I want to talk about my reason for starting this podcast. It’s pretty simple. I wanted to put my money where my mouth is, and create a podcast for the company.
We’ve been editing, producing, and mixing shows for clients since 2017. But it dawned on me that I give a lot of podcasting advice and consult various people on how to create podcasts, but I had never taken the podcast journey myself. So, I did what any founder does, I jumped in feet first. Boy is hosting a podcast a lot different from editing other people’s podcasts. I’ve learned a lot! You can check out my pod baby below.

The Top 5 Reasons To Start A Podcast
One
Audio is convenient for the consumer. The greatest thing about podcasts in my opinion is that you don’t have to be glued to a screen, you don’t have to be 100% focused on what you’re consuming. You can be at the gym, you can be on a walk, or you can be listening to a podcast on a drive. I love passively learning while doing other tasks. We’re on screens all day and I think being able to step away from that but still be engaged is a huge plus.
Two
Podcasts have a low-cost barrier to entry. You can honestly get started with the pair of headphones that came with your cell phone. For $100 you can buy a pretty decent microphone, and if you’re really serious you can get a damn good sound from a microphone in the $300-$400 range. Video production will cost 2-3x that.
Three
Through podcasting, you can position yourself as an expert in your field. When you get on a podcast and start talking about something that you’re an authority in, it gives you instant credibility. People are gonna be consuming what you’re saying and look to you as a trustworthy voice. The quicker you can get on the mic to educate and inform, the sooner you become a high-value individual. Once people recognize this, they’re going to look to you as somebody that they should be following on their social channels.
Four
To promote your offerings. Podcasts are great lead magnets. People use podcasting to funnel listeners into their ecosystems and to sell them their products and services. Perhaps you’re a crypto trader and you have courses on how to trade crypto. You can use your podcast to market your courses. Maybe you’re an author and you want to slang the book you just wrote. You could drop a CTA into your episodes and show notes. Do you have a membership site? You can encourage people to signup through your podcast. These are all good reasons to start a podcast, and the sooner you grow an audience, the sooner they’re going to buy into your ecosystem.
Five
Building relationships by bringing guests onto your podcast. One huge advantage of starting a podcast is that it allows you to build relationships with people that otherwise probably wouldn’t give you the time of day. These people might come in handy down the line if you need something. Or, perhaps there’s a business relationship that you can foster. Focus on giving first, then you’ll receive without having to ask.
